Ethanol or Ethyl Alcohol is derived by fermentation of cereals and sugar juices.
Medical herbalists like Anna Rósa traditionally make herbal tinctures by extracting herbs in ethanol. Herbal tinctures are used as medicine both internally and externally. Anna Rósa uses ethanol to make tinctures she then blends to make the Acne Healing Extract used for acne and blemishes prone skin. The ethanol both extracts active ingredients from the herbs as well as being a preservative. In the case of the Acne Healing Extract the ethanol additionally acts as a anti-microbal agent.
